UCLA Policy Brief Focusing on Ontario-QVC Deal Published
On October 25th, Teamsters Local 1932 hosted elected officials from across the Inland Empire. We began a dialogue to establish a consensus on what’s gone wrong in our region’s economic development. Ellen Reese of UC Riverside previewed for our audience a policy brief written by her and other local academics titled, “The Need for a Better Deal for Workers & Residents in Inland Southern California: A Case Study of QVC Inc.’s 2015 Operating Covenant Agreement with Ontario, California.” The policy brief was published by the Institute for Research on Labor and Employment at UCLA on February 12, 2018.
Reese and her co-authors conclude that a regional strategy, one that makes an honest attempt to involve the public, will be necessary to turn the tide in our current economic “race to the bottom.”
Teamsters Local 1932 will be working with those who attended our Oct. 25th event, and other community stakeholders, to formulate the regional strategy that has been prescribed by Reese and her co-authors.
