DWA Secures First Teamster Contract

Desert Water Agency Workers Secure First Teamster Contract with Unanimous Vote

Teamsters Local 1932 is proud to announce that workers at the Desert Water Agency (DWA) have overwhelmingly ratified their first Teamster contract, marking a major victory for public service employees who deliver clean, high-quality water to the residents of Palm Springs.

After months of negotiations, DWA Teamsters have achieved a strong first Teamster contract that sets a new standard for fairness, respect, and accountability in their workplace. The contract includes major improvements to working conditions that will strengthen the agency’s ability to deliver quality water and essential public services to the residents of Palm Springs.

Key highlights of the new contract include:

  • Clear and fair grievance and discipline procedures: ensuring transparency, consistency, and worker protections across all departments.
  • Overhaul of standby, call-back, and fatigue time: improving work-life balance and ensuring employees are fairly compensated for their critical around-the-clock responsibilities.
  • Changes to overtime calculation: creating a more equitable system that rewards the hard work and dedication of DWA employees.

“This contract is a reflection of what happens when working people stand together,” said Randy Korgan, Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 1932. “Our Teamster water workers save lives every day by keeping Palm Springs’ water safe, clean, and free from contamination. This contract ensures that those who protect public health and serve our community with pride finally have the protections, pay, and respect they deserve.”

Desert Water Agency Teamsters play an essential role in maintaining the city’s water infrastructure, ensuring safe, reliable access to clean water for homes, businesses, and critical community needs. With this first Teamster contract in place, they have secured the protections and recognition they deserve.
