CVWD Teamsters Ratify 1st Teamster Contract
Coachella Workers Ratify First Teamsters Contract
Coachella, CA — Tonight, workers in Coachella have officially ratified their first Teamsters contract, marking a major milestone in their fight for fairness, stability, and respect on the job. The newly ratified agreement delivers higher wages, affordable healthcare, and critical job protections that will improve the lives of our members and their families.
By joining the Teamsters, workers came together to negotiate a contract that reflects their hard work and ensures they have a real voice in the workplace. The agreement establishes clear standards around pay increases, access to quality healthcare that is affordable, and protections against unfair discipline; provisions that were previously unavailable to these workers.
“This first contract is a powerful example of what happens when workers stand together,” said Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 1932, Randy Korgan. “These workers organized, fought for a seat at the table, and won a contract that raises standards not just for themselves, but for working people across the Coachella Valley.”
This new contract brings long-overdue security and peace of mind.
“For the first time, we have real protections and benefits we can count on,” said Robert Hodges, a member of the bargaining unit and CVWD employee. “This contract brings me better pay, healthcare I can afford for my family, and respect on the job. Becoming Teamsters was the best choice my coworkers and I ever made.”
The ratification of this agreement underscores the growing momentum of the labor movement in the Inland Empire and Coachella Valley, as more workers organize to demand dignity, fairness, and a better future.
