CTE Teachers Demand Union Recognition

San Bernardino, CA- Career and Technical Education (CTE) teachers have officially demanded union recognition with Teamsters Local 1932, taking a bold stand to demand a voice in the decisions that shape their profession, classrooms, and futures.

These skilled professionals specialize in high-demand industries and trades such as criminal justice, digital media and design, cosmetology, culinary arts, welding, and more — playing a vital role in preparing Inland Empire students for the workforce of tomorrow.

“These educators don’t just teach skills — they shape futures,” said Randy Korgan, Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 1932. “We’re honored to stand with them as they finally claim their voice and organize for the betterment of their profession and their students.”

“This journey has been about standing up for what CTE teachers have always deserved — recognition, representation, and respect. For too long, career technical educators across California have been left out of the conversation. Yesterday’s milestone is more than a letter — it’s a message that our voices matter. Joining the Teamsters gives us a seat at the table, and I’m hopeful it inspires other CTE teachers to do the same.” Says Nickoli Voruff, CTE Teacher.

Teamsters Local 1932 continues to support workers across education, public service, and private industry who are organizing to build power, improve working conditions, and transform the Inland Empire from the ground up.
